Foods That Stain Your Teeth: Tea and Your Teeth

Although tea has a reputation as a healthy beverage, it may not be the best choice when it comes to keeping your teeth white. Dentists say tea -- especially the basic black variety -- can cause more stains than coffee. However, recent studies have found that even herbal teas and white teas have the potential to erode enamel and cause tooth staining.

Dental Sedation

Comfortable Dental Care With Our Sedation Services Dental Sedation - Relaxation Dentistry Ypsilanti

You may be one of the many who stay away from dental offices because of the fear and anxiety from a dentist’s drills, needles, and treatments that take too long. But now, you can say goodbye to such an anxious experience as we offer you conscious sedation dentistry. It is easy and effective. One hour before your appointment you take a pill we have previously given you. When you arrive for your appointment, you will feel quite relaxed. As you sit in the dental chair, progressively you will reach a deeper level of sedation where you are conscious and able to answer questions asked by the doctor. Throughout your treatment, you are monitored. When your procedure is completed, someone will need to drive you home and in just an hour, you will be back to your normal alertness.

Your level of sedation is less than what is required for surgery. This alternative is for fearful patients – not just fear of dentistry but fear of being unconscious and letting go of control. But conscious sedation lets you be aware of what’s happening without the anxiety or fear of treatment.

We also offer this type of sedation for those who cannot get numb with anesthesia or for those who do not have time for repeated visits to the dentist and would like more work done in a longer appointment. Another alternative for some patients is nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to take care of problems in just one visit!

Tooth Decay and Sensitivity

What Causes Tooth Enamel Damage?

What happens when tooth enamel is damaged? The exposed part underneath becomes vulnerable to decay. Cavities aren't the only problem.

Teeth with damaged enamel can become sensitive to extreme temperatures. Suddenly, eating ice cream or sipping hot coffee can be painful or unpleasant.

9 - 15 months! They are clear, custom-made, and barely noticeable orthodontics that are changed every two weeks as progress is being made. And there are no restrictions on what you eat or drink as you can easily remove and replace them after brushing and flossing. We are happy to discuss a treatment plan for you to keep you smiling!

How Enamel Protects Your Teeth

What Causes Tooth Enamel Damage?

Enamel is kind of like the shell of an egg: it protects the softer, more vulnerable part of the tooth inside.
But unlike an eggshell, the thin layer of enamel is tough.

In fact, enamel is the hardest substance in the body. It can withstand decades of biting, chewing and crunching -- with some luck and good dental care.
